<\/p>\nPleasance Futures is the artist development strand of The Pleasance, acting as an incubator for bold new theatre makers to make their mark. Pleasance Futures is committed to discovering and supporting the most exciting new theatrical voices, nurturing the development of emerging companies, young performers and new writers. <\/p>\n
Pleasance Futures initiatives includes year round work across home venue Pleasance Islington and Edinburgh venues during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A range of opportunities currently available including:<\/p>\n

INCUBATE
\nNCUBATE gives playwrights the opportunity to identify, for themselves, what form of support they need in order to develop their practice and to progress their work on a new concept or script.
\nIn partnership with COMMON, the Pleasance Theatre (Islington) will provide vital support to four working-class playwrights through giving them the time, money and space needed to explore a new concept \/ script, and to identify for themselves what support they need to do it.<\/p>\n
Development Fund
\nFor Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2020 Pleasance have launched a new Development Fund for Artists of Colour, which will provide financing, mentorship and programming opportunities to support UK-based Artists of Colour in bringing their work to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Pleasance have made \u00a310,000 available, with productions receiving investment of up to \u00a35,000, to support exciting projects that would otherwise not be able to come to the Fringe<\/p>\n

\nPleasance Edinburgh opened as part of the 1985 Festival Fringe with two theatres facing onto a deserted courtyard-come-car-park at an unfashionable eastern end of Edinburgh\u2019s Old Town.
\nThirty four seasons later the Pleasance has become one of the biggest and most highly respected venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with an international profile and a network of alumni that reads like a Who\u2019s Who of contemporary comedy, drama and entertainment.
\nPleasance Islington has been one of the most exciting Off-West-End theatres in London since it opened its doors in 1995, providing a launch pad for some of the most memorable productions and renowned practitioners of the past decade and staying true to its mission of providing a platform for the talent of the future. Across three-spaces, the theatre welcomes artists at all stages of their careers, with a commitment to new work that pushes boundaries.<\/p>\n
