Britain is a nation of\u00a0dog<\/span>\u00a0lovers and, living in\u00a0Billericay<\/span>, I’d guess that the town is a bit of a hotbed as nearly everyone I know has a\u00a0dog<\/span>. \u00a0(Although not me, I have cats and rabbits).<\/p>\n

Billericay<\/span>\u00a0resident Phil Bradley started a small Facebook group called “Billericay<\/span>\u00a0Dogs<\/span>” and this has now grown to such an extent – nearly 6,000 members – that help has been given to local pets, their human owners and even the people and pets of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Phil came down to the studio to visit Bob Simpson on his regular Wednesday lunchtime show One 2 Three to explain all about it.<\/p>\n

The cost of living crisis that we’re all facing has left many\u00a0dog<\/span>\u00a0owners struggling to afford to feed themselves and their pets.\u00a0 Also, animals are being surrendered to pet shelters at an alarming rate.<\/p>\n

Phil asked that the next time you visit a foodbank donation point please think about donations for people\u2019s pets as well as their owners.<\/p>\n

Tesco Express in Meadow Rise,\u00a0Billericay<\/span>\u00a0now has a specific donation point for pets, thanks to the good work of\u00a0Billericay<\/span>\u00a0Dogs<\/span>, but pet food donations can be made at any donation point for the\u00a0Billericay<\/span>\u00a0Foodbank.<\/p>\n
