effect<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle fertiliser around clumps of tulips to boost flowering, or use a foliar feed<\/li>\n<li>Sow hardy annual flowers directly into beds where you\u2019d like them to bloom<\/li>\n<li>Prune Himalayan honeysuckle (Leycesteria formosa)<\/li>\n<li>Pick off dead flower heads from spring bulbs<\/li>\n<li>Protect emerging shoots of delphiniums and lupins from slugs and snails using a barrier such as copper tape for pots, copper rings or garlic granules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Fruit and Vegetable Garden<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sow sweetcorn in deep modular seed trays under cover to plant out in early June<\/li>\n<li>Feed fruit trees and bushes<\/li>\n<li>Plant out onion sets grown in pots under glass<\/li>\n<li>Order vegetable plug plants from mail-order suppliers<\/li>\n<li>Warm soil with cloches or sheets of polythene for early sowings<\/li>\n<li>Plant out maincrop potatoes<\/li>\n<li>Plant asparagus crowns<\/li>\n<li>Sow the following crops this week if conditions are suitable: beetroot, parsnips, turnips, onions, peas and mangetout, broad beans, lettuce and salad leaves, spinach, radish, rocket, mizuna, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In The Greenhouse<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buy plug plants and young bedding plants to grow on for baskets, pots and bedding displays<\/li>\n<li>Thin out heavy fruit sets on peaches and nectarines, leaving fruits about 10cm apart<\/li>\n<li>Sow annual climbers, such as cup-and-saucer vine (Cobaea), nasturtium, <a title=\"Rhodochiton atrosanguineum\" href=\"https:\/\/andrewbabicz.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/11\/rhodochiton-atrosanguineum\/\" target=\"_parent\">Rhodochiton<\/a> and morning glory (Ipomoea)<\/li>\n<li>Grow an early crop of dwarf French beans in a large pot<\/li>\n<li>Repot any top-heavy or pot-bound houseplants<\/li>\n<li>Start feeding young plants about 3-4 weeks after potting up in fresh compost<\/li>\n<li>Pot up rooted cuttings and seedlings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Around The Garden<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove winter grime from patios and terraces with a pressure washer<\/li>\n<li>Sow new lawns, choosing a grass mix that suits the type of lawn you want<\/li>\n<li>Snip plain green shoots off variegated shrubs<\/li>\n<li>Mow lawns on dry days if grass is growing strongly<\/li>\n<li>Dig out couch grass, ground elder, bindweed and other problem weeds<\/li>\n<li>Place plant supports over clumps of tall-growing perennials such as lupins and delphiniums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a
